Ecofriendly Products for your bathroom

Bamboo Toothbrushes

Did you know traditional toothbrushes made of plastic aren’t recyclable? consider switching to a bamboo toothbrush instead. Bamboo toothbrushes have many benefits.

  • Soft bristles are easy on sensitive gums and teeth
  • Colored bristles or bases help differentiate who’s toothbrush it is for different family members
  • Inexpensive compared to expensive electric toothbrushes

Natural Dental Floss

Regular dental floss is not biodegradable. We love this charcoal bamboo dental floss in a refillable glass container.

Reusable Makeup Remover Pads & Swabs

Reusable makeup remover pads are a great alternative to their single-use, disposable counterparts.  They are soft and machine washable, work well to remove makeup and I love them for applying my toner as well.

The ones below come with a mesh bag to keep them together in the washing machine.  Disposable, single use makeup remover pads and cotton balls are bleached and can be loaded with pesticides.

Reusable swabs and cotton buds are also available.  They can range from metal to bamboo and organic cotton.  Below are some options.

Loofah or Natural Sea Sponges

Avoid using synthetic fiber washcloths in the shower.  There are so many alternatives for ecofriendly alternatives such as hemp, agave fiber and sisal or even a loofah. these biodegradable materials work well and offer biodegradable solutions.

Brushes & Combs

Instead of plastic brushes and combs, switch to an an all natural one made with beechwood and plant fiber bristles, and a  bamboo, wheat grass, or wooden handle. They are much nicer to use and easier on your hair.

Fabric Shower Curtain Liners

Fabric shower curtain liners are a great ecofriendly option and they perform really well.

The majority of plastic shower curtain liners are made from vinyl or PVC.

Polyvinyl Chloride or PVC is a high strength thermoplastic material widely used in applications, such as pipes, medical devices, wire and cable insulation…the list is endless. It is the world’s third-most widely produced synthetic plastic polymer and a major contributor to plastic pollution.

I have been using fabric shower curtain liners for years and they have many benefits:

  • Machine washable
  • Long lasting
  • Reusable
  • Mold resistant
  • Soft fabric
  • PVC free
  • No fumes from the chemicals in vinyl shower curtains.
